What is the Citicorp building's major flaw? What could happen? Describe.
Who discovered this flaw and tried to make it public?
The Citicorp center could not be built on the corners because it was built to accomodate St. Peter's Lutheran Church, which occupied one corner of the building site and the one condition about the Citicorp project was that it was built in the same location as the church, but the corner that it was founded on would not be touched.
Citicorp's major flaw, pointed out by a nameless architecture student, was that it could blow over in the wind. The student was studying the building as part of his thesis and found that the building was susceptible to collapsing by quartering winds, or the winds that strike the building at its corners. LeMessurier, the main architect for the Citicorp, found the student was right and that the building has a 1-in-16 chance of collapsing every year that is was standing.
